Nesto – the Ideal Place for Cyclists

17. March 2025

One of the main advantages of Nesto is its location. It’s just a stone’s throw from the city centre, yet surrounded by nature and tranquillity, which distinguishes it from other projects.

Moreover, you can easily connect to the network of cycling routes by bike directly from the neighbourhood. We began supporting cycling back in 2020 when we built the first bike path along Kopčianska Street.

However, our plans for cycling infrastructure are ambitious. As Nesto grows, dedicated cycling paths and shared spaces accessible to cyclists will be expanded across the entire neighbourhood.

Everything for Cyclists at Nesto

Nesto considers everything cyclists need. Currently, in the Na námestí section, where the last few apartments are still available, apartment owners will find a lockable bicycle room and a special shower, which will let them easily clean their bikes and keep them in top condition. Bicycle stands are also a standard feature of every Nesto development phase.

Unique Excursions

From Nesto, you can connect to a network of cycling routes. For example, the well-known Eurovelo 6 cycling path will take you to various attractive locations in Bratislava and beyond. It runs along the Danube through Bratislava, Gabčíkovo, Komárno, and continues to Hungary. You can also connect to a route that takes you to Austria.

If you feel like exploring history, you should try the Eurovelo 13, known as the Iron Curtain Trail, which measures 10,400 km. This route follows the former border between the Eastern and Western blocs of Europe. It leads through protected areas and historical sites, connecting Cold War monuments.

If you like exploring history, be sure to also stop at our forest park, which is accessible to the general public. We care about making Nesto an attractive neighbourhood that also preserves history. That’s why we revitalized the park, and installed educational boards, and rest areas.

You can see the preserved World War I military cemetery, a bunker that dates to the first Czechoslovak Republic, a section of the Iron Curtain, and a border stone which is part of the now invisible Schengen border between Slovakia and Austria.

Nature from a Bicycle Seat

If you set out on a cycling trip during spring, you can admire snowdrops, violets, and coltsfoot that adorn the edges of forest roads and parks. You can also find awakening Bratislava nature in Pečniansky Forest. It’s easy to get there from Nesto. Just take the route that leads through the border area past the concrete tank to Kapitulské pole. From there, you can reach Jelení háj along the Danube, or the embankment, which is also popular with athletes.

The spring sunshine and green meadows also attract visitors to Austrian Kittsee, to buy groceries, visit the chocolate factory, or get to know this popular Austrian village. It won’t take you more than 15 minutes by bike.
